
Understanding the Three Doshas: A Key to Unlocking Your Body’s Constitution in Ayurveda

In the ancient science of Ayurveda, the concept of doshas plays a central role in understanding one’s body constitution and overall health. 3. Kapha Dosha:
Kapha combines the earth and water elements and governs structure, stability and lubrication in the body. People with a dominant Kapha constitution generally have a sturdy build, calm temperament and good endurance. When Kapha is imbalanced, it can lead to weight gain, lethargy and respiratory issues. Incorporating regular exercise, stimulating activities and maintaining a warm and dry environment can help balance Kapha.
Understanding Prakruti and the Dynamic Nature of Doshas:
According to Ayurveda, each individual is born with a unique body constitution known as Prakruti. There are primarily two types of Prakruti – Shukra Shonitaj Prakriti and Obtained Prakriti. Shukra Shonitaj Prakriti refers to the genetic constitution received at the time of zygote formation. Obtained Prakriti, on the other hand, is the result of environmental factors, lifestyle choices and daily habits
It is essential to note that no one belongs exclusively to a single dosha; rather, we all have a combination of Vata, Pitta and Kapha energies. However, some individuals may have one or two doshas more dominant than others. Understanding our dominant doshas can help us make informed choices about diet, lifestyle and daily routines to maintain a harmonious balance.
